The Cayman Islands Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Beach Club Colony 08/04/2003
Reviewers Rating: Fair
When the coach pulled up outside the hotel I thought we had stopped to drop someone of at a cheaper hotel. We stood at the bottom of some stairs waiting for someone to take our luggage, eventualy someone came, but to tell us to carry our luggage up. We waited at the reception and the receptionist snapped at us to move our bags out the way of other people. We then where told which rooms we had, they did not have enough beds, so they gave us a fold up bed. Upon going into our rooms, the AC did not work, nor did the shower. The room was filthy, in dire need of refurbishment and just generaly awful. The actual hotel was thoroughly horrible. Most of the staff where nasty and grouchy. The beach however was lovely, the sea was crystal clear and the sand white. The snorkelling was fantastic, as the was the ridiculously priced watersports which we did (throught the Hyatt). The bar in the beach club was good, I got all inclusive cocktails whenever I wanted, and the food was alright. The pool looked nice but the swim up bar was not in use. To conclude I will say that the hotel disgusted me, it looked more like a shanty town than a hotel, the beach was fantastic, it was paradise (apart from the 500+ cruise ship people). The people outside the hotel in shops and restaurents where lovely, welcoming and friendly. I do not recomend going to the Beach Club Colony! Go to another resort because the beaches are amazing.
