Antigua & Barbuda Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Royal Antiguan 04/22/2003
Reviewers Rating: Great
My wife daughter and I just returned from a vacation at the Royal Antiguan Beach and Tennis Club. We did not go all inclusive. We did not eat at the Royal Antiguan the breakfast buffet was $25.00 U.S./person half of that for a child, and the dinner buffet was $35.00 U.S. / person. The hotel is an older establishment, the rooms were clean, and the staff was very friendly. The beach is one of the best we seen on the island. The only draw back is that the hotel is a long ways from St. John's, and if you take the hotel taxis it is $8.00 per person each way. We chose to walk to the village about a mile from the hotel, and catch the local bus for $1.00 U.S. each way. The last bus back is at 7.00 p.m. There are many excellant restaurants in St. John's' away from the quay. One such restaurant is Claudia's and Aunt Esther's Pepperpot, they serve local dishes and are very resonable priced as well as being excellant restaurants. There is a bakery on Long street just west of Claudia's called Barry's Cafe and Bakery, you will not find a better place for cakes or sandwiches and again the prices are quite reasonable. We also dined at the Big Bannana, Hemmingways, ( expensive ) O.Grady's pub excellent Curried Conch and very friendly Mother and Daughter owners. The Wadadli local beer is great, and priced right. All in all we had a great vacation, we would stay at the Royal Antiguan again, and would not go all inclusive unless there was a sell-off. Request an ocean view room above the fourth floor, as the view is one of the finest on the island.
