Hotel & Resort Reviews: Anguilla
Madeariman Beach Club 01/18/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Between 23rd of Dec until 7th of Jan, me and my husband and our two daughters (8 + 14 years old) had the great pleasure of staying at Madeariman Beach Club on Shoal Bay East.

It was our first time on Anguilla but I had figured out that Shoal Bay East should be a good place to stay. I found Madeariman on Bob Greens Anguilla page.

Because of the relatively low price the rooms had, I didn't expect it to be Anguillas best hotel. But now after having stayed there for more then two weeks I actually think it must be close.

Madeariman must for sure be the 'best value' on Anguilla!! The rooms are spacious (doesn't look like that from outside) and very nice and very clean and very nice furnished. They have a living area with sofa + armchairs + large table, a bar with coffee maker + microwave + small fridge, sleeping area and a very nice bathroom. They also have AC and TV !!

Rooms were very good and so was the verandah. We spent a lot of time on the verandah. From there you have that spectacular view of the 'snow white' sand and the turquoise water. And you only need to go down the stairs from the verandah to have your feet "in" the sand and then another 20 steps to be "in" the water. So you cannot find a better position of a hotel. At least not if you, like our family, want to stay "on" the beach.

There are some trees between the water and the verandahs but they don't take away so much of the view from the verandah. When I was down on the beach I noticed that they took away a lot of the view towards the verandahs though. So the trees gave some privacy.

The staff at Madeariman was very good as well. Bevington Harrigan, the owner, is a great guy. So friendly and helpful!! An example: We arrived very late to the hotel on the 23rd of Dec and when Bevington welcomed us he probably saw that we were starving after our long flight (with a lot of delays) from Sweden. The restaurant had closed but he asked what we wanted to eat and 30 minutes later we had our first dinner (or night meal) on Anguilla. That is "great service" !!

Great service from the others as well: Crescha at the office, Diane who cleaned our rooms, Hank and Vicky and Karry in the restaurant and .....

This is a small hotel, only 5 rooms, so it is easy to feel like "a great family".

Will we return? For sure! We have already reserved for two weeks again next Christmas.

Our final thoughts: Shoal Bay East is the best beach to stay at on Anguilla. And Madeariman has a unique location. From the verandahs you step down "on" the sand of Shoal Bay East and on the best part of that beach. That combined with very nice and well equiped rooms, top service and great staff and great owner makes our rating very easy. A choise of staying at Madeariman is **** Excellent !!!!
