We went to El Dorado Royale for our honeymoon back in October. We paid extra to stay in the Cassita Suites but on arrival were told ours wasn't available, so we were put into a Junior Suite. As we were on honeymoon we were quite dissapointed by this but decided just to let it go and enjoy the holiday. The hotel is spotless and the staff are very friendly, except be aware to tip constantly! We paid £4000 for this holiday and ended up paying hundreds of pounds in tips ie at breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and for the maids. If you don't tip, expect bad service! One night we didn't have any change for the room service guy, so the next night our room service took 3 hours to be delivered, even after many many calls. With regards to our Cassita suite, we were told by another couple that the hotel were saving all of those suites for the Americans, and that they were paying people $200 a night to stay in the Junior Suite as they had over booked them. Even although we had paid for the Cassita Suite at the very beginning, we weren't offered any compensation! Bad Service!!
On saying this, the food and drinks were fantastic!! You could ask for Champagne at anytime of the day and a fresh, chilled bottle would be opened for you! BLISS!!!
All in all, this holiday was great but after such dissapointing service we wouldn't return to this hotel. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself is superb! They should maybe just think about replacing some of the staff.
