The Cayman Islands Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Treasure Island 05/30/2003
Reviewers Rating: Great
Treasure Island Resort is a good choice for those on a tight budget, who want to be on the Seven Mile Beach area.
Our experience with Treasure Island came during our first every 'tropical' vacation. We wanted a place that was convenient and clean. When we vacation, we spend most of our time AWAY from the place we are sleeping, tending to be people who enjoy being out and about. TI was a clean, convenient hotel. The rooms have tile floors and balconies. There are 3 very nice pools on the property. The beach is a coral beach, almost a cove with snorkeling right there. If you are not a snorkeler, you may not want to be in this location. There is a nice sand beach about 100' down the beach, however.
The room was nice enough. King size bed, refridgerator, and air conditioning. Our pillows were very soured smelling, and it is our own fault we didn't ask for new ones...we just kept the ones we had for the entire week and suffered in silence. The only other issue was that whenever we returned from the beach, to the rooms, and would want to shower before heading out for dinner, or whatever, we never had towels in the room. The maid would have been to the room and cleaned, but no towels. We'd have to call, and they were always being laundered. Seems they need to buy more towels.
The lady who ran the activities desk was very poor. You would call from your room, get the machine and never get a call back. You would go down for help, and not get much. We did better on our own, over the internet prior to leaving!
All in all...would we stay here again? Yes, if we wanted to stay in the busy 7 mile beach area. The hotel was basically clean, the pools nice, as were the rooms. We, however, fell in love with the Rum Point area, where the pace is slower and lazier, and that is where we will stay on our trip back, next year.
