Enchanted Garden 10/4/00
Reviewers Rating: Good Enchanted Garden is just that -- a beautiful property high on a hill overlooking Ocho Rios. Beautiful gardens, fishponds, waterfalls you can take a dip in or just admire, and a wonderful aviary full of birds from all over the world that you can feed. Very good food -- buffet breakfast includes conventional and Jamaican foods. Pasta/grill lunch or lighter spa fare available. Nice, large pool with swim-up bar. Shuttles available to nearby semi-private beach and shopping in town. Expensive spa services available. Hotel rooms need better maintenance...our a/c unit died and in the new room they put us in, the bedframe was broken so we pulled the mattress on the floor for 3 days. Jr. Suite class room highly recommended -- huge, nicely equipped. MANY, MANY stairs. 109 steps up to the main restaurants. But there are breaks where you can rest and watch a waterfall, and after the first few days you don't notice it. It is VERY, VERY hot and humid in September, because you are not right on the water. Paths are very slippery when wet; leave your strappy sandals at home.
