The ride from the airport is long. Look at it as part of the experience and a way to see the island. The driver gives alot of interesting info so just sit back, if you can, and enjoy a crazy ride. The resort is very large and very well run. The rooms were very clean and pretty basic. Food was good, deserts were fair, all seemed to have a jello consistancy. I do enjoy sitting on an ocean where the you can hear the waves hitting the shore. But that's not to say that the beach area didn't grow on me. It was a bay with very calm warm waters. The staff raked the sea weed to a point everyday and the beach, although not white sand, was raked clean. There is a fence at the end of the South Beach. If you get within shouting distance, you probably will be asked to ride their wave runners and whatever else they may be selling. But as I read before I left and I found to be true, no thank you works just fine. My husband ventured down to talk to people and they were actually very nice and just gave him water sports info. The cruise ships came in everyday and it was fun to watch them come and go. I can't say enough about the staff at the resort. Very accomodating and handled any questions or concerns very quickly. I hear that this resort gets very crowded but we must have been there on a good week because everything ran very smoothly. The main pool is beautiful with a waterfall. There are 2 other pools and a north beach area. We were in the South building on the 6th floor ocean front. Room 630. Had a wonderful romantic time with my husband, met new friends and relaxed more than I have on any vacation. Apple Vacations has always come through for us so we were very happy with them too. They were always there to set up tours or answer questions also. The only draw back I found was the long distance from the airport, so if you choose Jamaica and the Jamaica Grande, I think it was a good deal for a not too pricey vacation.
