SANDALS NEGRIL 11/05/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
My husband and I went to Sandals Negril for our honeymoon the week of October 7th to the 14th. We flew US Air and the travel end of it was fine. Upon arrival in Montego Bay we were greeted by a Sandals rep who to our surprise comped us a flight to Negril. That was very nice and greatly appreciated. After a 20 minute flight we arrived in Negril. When we first arrived we were brought into the lobby and it was beautiful. The grounds are very pretty and we were initially impressed. We booked The highest category room. The 2 floor loft bedroom suite. We payed $6500.00 for this trip so I guess I was expecting allittle more luxuary then what we got. The rooms were clean. They were decorated nice but allittle shabby. The carpet was old and stained and there was always an overwelming smell of bug spray. Which would be fine if it kept them away but it didn't. We had a million little bugs in our room and i'd say they were about the size of a coffee grind. The patio was pretty run down, not to inviting. The bathroom was clean. Nothing fancy. I was just really dissapointed with the ammount of money we spent and what we got.The walls shouldn't be stained, the shower head shouldn't be comming out of the wall. The carpet shouldn't be old and tattered. They really should keep up with there accomadations so they are equal to the brochures that we looked at.The beach is very, very narrow. There's not much left of it. The pool was nice. Allittle small, exspecially when the afternoon volleyball crowd moved in. It takes up pretty much the entire pool. The pool bar was ok. The drinks were good. Again the pool could use allittle revamping itself. The food was great. There was a nice variety and pretty much something for everyone. There were plenty of activities and tours and entertainment. The staff was wonderful. Very helpful and accomadating. We never had a bad experience with any of the staff while we were there. The spa was really nice and offered alot of pampering services.(For a pricy fee of course) All in all I would say Sandals should either lower their rates drastically or keep their resort looking like a $600 a day kinda place. I don't think i will ever try another Sandals again. You just don't get what you pay for.
