Sandals Royal Jamaican 12/31/02
Reviewers Rating: Good
We arrived at the Royal Jamaican for a 14 night stay on 21st November 2002. The Royal Jamaican is cramped for space and very noisy. Great for some but certainly not, what we had wished for and we found no escape from the scream of overhead aircraft, loud music round the main pool and constant attentions of the beach traders. The quality and choice of food is excellent and the bar & restaurant staff very friendly and well trained. Sadly, the management did not enforce their dress code policy, in any of the restaurants; those that had dressed for dinner sat alongside people who came straight from the beach still in shorts and singlet. Our beachfront room was small and had a very ́tired/ bathroom with weak shower. After one night, we moved rooms to one in a quieter location. Nevertheless, when we stepped out of our room we could find nowhere quiet on the beach to relax and read. After six nights we left the Royal Jamaican to go to the Beaches Royal Plantation which was altogether in a different class. If you want a relaxed romantic holiday, you may find it hard to find at the Royal Jamaican but very easy at the Royal Plantation.
