Downtown in Market Place (A-6) is the Bamboo Gallery offering Caribbean art including the work of our cover artist, Dwight Outten, and a fine selection of Haitian style work. The gallery also carries metal and wood sculptures and crafts from Kenya. Nearby is the Unicorn Bookstore for everything from local history books, guides and maps, children's books, to newspapers and magazines.
Nearby is the main store of Royal Jewels (A-6), which carries jewelry, watches, perfumes, leather goods, crystal and cosmetics, plus Bose sound systems.
At Central Square (Providenciales E-6) Greensleeves has unusual cottage crafts, all locally made. We love the handpainted sneakers! Also original art and prints which they will frame. Shalimar has Cuban, Dominican and Jamaican cigars, Lucayan rum, locally made dolls, fine T-shirts and other souvenirs.
On the Leeward Highway, look for the sign that says "Local Artist Studio" (F-7). Follow this to the studio of Phillip Outten. There you'll see his watercolors, acrylics and oils which reflect the color and character of the Caribbean.
Good prices on a wide selection of wines and liquor, beer, sodas and juices can be found at Discount Liquors and Wine Cellar (E-7).
Cocos Boutique in Caicos Café Plaza (D-9) is worth a visit. They carry cool, classic resortwear, most of it European, plus hats, bags and interesting jewelry. In the same plaza is Maison Creole with Haitian paintings, bowls and some Haitian antique furniture and other Caribbean crafts. Also handsome South African and locally made baskets.
