Handpicked Chefs in the Dominican Republic Vie For Titlesâ€”Guests Enjoy the Fruits of Their Labor!
BOCHA CHICA, Dominican Republic (October 2, 2006) â€“ Coral by Hilton all-inclusive resorts recently celebrated their first annual "Chef of the Year 2006â€ť contest at Coral by Hilton Hamaca in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. Culled from all four Coral by Hilton properties in Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, Bayahibe and Puerto Plata, the chefs vied with each other to prepare the mouthwatering dishes that went on to form part of the menus that grace their guests' tables around the island.
Each chef presented three dishes; soup, appetizer, and entrĂ©e and was evaluated on presentation, creativity and overall flavor from the distinguished panel of judges that included government officials, travel industry executives and local media. In addition to the "Chef of the Year 2006â€ť title, awards were given for Best Pastry Chef, Best Pantry Chef, Best Soup, Best Appetizer and Best EntrĂ©e.
Mr. Sixto Vargas of Coral by Hilton Marien received the "Chef of the Year 2006â€ť award for his delectable recipes that included a Sancocho de Mariscos (Seafood Stew); Ceviche de Camarones con buen pan (Shrimp Ceviche with Good Bread); and Jamoncillo de Pato con Salsa de Chinola (Mexican-style terrine of duck with chinola sauce).
