Advice on Beaches Negril vs Turks please...

Postby Tylersmom » Mon May 08, 2006 8:08 am

I'm contemplating Beaches Negril vs Turks in Sept. My boys are 10 and 7. I've taken them to Turks previously and the little jellyfish were so abundent that we never went in the water, so I'm leary of a return trip. However, I've read that beach erosion has caused the beach in Negril to be extremely shallow (not much fun for 2 boys wanting to swim, I would imagine).
Any advice on these two destinations for Sept? Thanks!

While 7 mile beach has had beach erosion, the gradual slope remains. You can wade out to swimming depth water, and be within the roped off area. The beaches in Negril are second to none.
The main beach (7 mile) can sometimes have wave action, while Bloody Bay is more protected and calmer.
