Vacation Rental by Owners

Postby ken(toronto) » Wed May 10, 2006 10:17 am

I am looking to rent a condo in Luquillo for 1 week in August, at the Playa Azul III building complex, 17th floor. This is directly from owner , through one of the many "rental by owner" websites for Puerto rico (one of them is Price is very reasonable compared to hotels.

My question is:

1) has anyone rented a condo this way, and is it safe? how do we know if the person is the actual owner? Any experience? Any scams? Any government regulations to protect the renter?

2) Anyone familiar with the Playa Azul Condo, how is your experience?

3) Anyone familiar with the Ocean Points Codos, or the Villas Del Mar condos, in Loiza?

Ken I think Cyber Rentals has a good reputation. Maybe you should check out their policies about refunds/protection etc. I would not wire money or pay by Western Union - do that and your funds may disappear. And be careful if the price is just too good to believe. Let us know how your experience turns out.
