World Masters Surfing Championship

The ISA recently announced that the Federacion de Surfing de Puerto Rico (FSPR) has been selected as the organisers of the 2nd World Masters Championship

The venue will be around Rincon with its fabulous warm waters. With truly awesome breaks. The Championship will feature surfers from over 15 countries including Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Great Britain, Italy, Jamaica, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Sweden, Tahiti and Venezuela.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 January, 2007 : - - The Surfing Capital of the Caribbean Rincon, Puerto Rico will witness for the second time the ISA World Masters Surfing Championships. It's been 38 years since the 1st world surfing championships event, Numerous surfing spectators from around the world are expected to arrive to the Enchanted Island of Puerto Rico in the next couple of days.

The Porta Del Sol ISA World Masters Surfing Championships will be held in the beautiful beaches of Rincon, Puerto Rico from January 20-28, 2007 at Domes beach witness of the 1st world surfing championships event in the Enchanted Island of Puerto Rico 38 years ago, and the 4th world surfing event held in the world.

ISA World Masters Surfing Championships Officially Open at Rincon, Puerto Rico
January 21, 2007
On a beautiful landscape, in front of the well-known Rincon's lighthouse, the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship was opened. In the next days it will be decided who the best 35yrs+ surfers of the world are.

More than 70 persons, representatives of twelve nations, participated in the famous Parade of the Nations and in the Ceremony of the World's Sands which were followed by the speeches of the President of the Surf Federation of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Lucke, the Mayor of Rincón, Carlos López, the representative of the Entertainments and Sports Department of the Government of Puerto Rico, Javier González and the President of the Tourism Company of Puerto Rico, Estela González. The opening ceremony finished with a traditional boricua dance, performed by the Tainos, a native tribe of Puerto Rico.

The 2007 Jeep South African Masters surfing team have made a bold start on Day One of the ISA World Masters Championships which got under way in contestable 3-4 foot surf and under sunny skies at Domes Beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico Sunday.

After four days of tough competition at the ISA World Masters Championships in Rincon, Puerto Rico, this week, five of the six South Africa surfers competing have made their way into the winner's circle; all reaching the finals of their respective divisions on Friday.
