Paradisus Puerto Rico not all-inclusive

Postby KarenS » Fri Apr 27, 2007 7:30 am

Sol Melia's experiment in bringing the all-inclusive concept to Puerto Rico has been declared a bust: the chain's Paradisus Puerto Rico resort in Rio Grande will soon switch over to a traditional format, although some meal plans will still be offered.
The resort also is getting a name change: as of May 1, the property on Cocoa Beach will be reflagged as the Grand Melia Puerto Rico.

Experts say that relatively high labor and other costs make it hard to pull off an all-inclusive in Puerto Rico, especially facing competition from less expensive all-inclusives in places like the Dominican Republic.
