JetBlue Airways announced plans to continue to expand its Caribbean presence with the launch of a new service between Fort Lauderdale and Ponce, Puerto Rico, beginning 05-Nov-07. The airline plans to operate daily services on the route year-round, providing South Florida with its only non-stop link to Ponce, on Puerto Rico's Southern coast.
Introductory fares start at USD59 each way, with regular fares ranging from USD to USD299 each way. Ponce will be JetBlue's 12th destination served from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.
Spirit Airlines announces daily nonstop service between its Fort Lauderdale base and Ponce, Puerto Rico, beginning November 1, 2007. Service will be via Mercedita Airport, just 5 km from Ponce‚Äôs business district.
Ponce is Spirit‚Äôs third destination in Puerto Rico, as the airline currently serves San Juan and Aguadilla. It is the carrier‚Äôs 22nd destination in the Bahamas, Caribbean and Latin America region, and its 37th destination overall.
In addition to nonstop service from its Fort Lauderdale base, Spirit also will offer connecting service to Ponce from its domestic network. Spirit serves all routes with its fleet of Airbus aircraft, the youngest in the Americas.
