USA Today featured a comprehensive article on the beauty and draw of St. Lucia. They also reported the following on going to the island: "Transportation:
Air Jamaica resumes non-stop service three times a week between New York and St. Lucia on Thursday. Delta has had daily non-stops from Atlanta since December. Additional non-stop flights are from Miami on American Airlines and on US Airways from Charlotte and Philadelphia. A taxi for up to four from the airport in Vieux Fort at the southern tip of the island to resort areas at points north ranges from $65 to $80. Major hotels have cab stands and car rental desks.

Where to stay:
Highend spots include Anse Chastanet (800-223-1108; in Soufrière with 37 hillside and 12 beach rooms on 600 acres. Doubles are $495- $845 with breakfast and dinner through April 15. Winter rates at Ladera's (866-290-0978; 25 cliff-side suites and villas start at $350.

Opening June 1 is Discovery at Marigot Bay (866-440-6600; discovery 124 one-, two- or three-bedroom units starting at $210.

Ti Kaye Village (758-456- 8101; has 33 Creole-style rooms and cottages on 16 acres overlooking a marine reserve from $200 a night with breakfast.

In Rodney Bay Village, the 83 rooms at the French Colonial-style Coco Palm (758-456-2800; start at $145 in winter.

Where to eat:
Ti Bananne at Coco Palm features open-pavilion seating with live music nightly and a Caribbean-accented menu. Entrees: $16-$25.

Rainforest Hideaway at Discovery at Marigot Bay is accessible via ferry across from the soon-to-open resort. Try the jerk-spiced shrimp and scallops, $34.
