CASTRIES, St. Lucia A new police unit will be assigned to protect tourists in this Caribbean nation after recent high-profile attacks on foreigners, including the killing of a British woman.
Internal Security Minister Calixte George said Thursday the officers will also try to prevent crimes against locals working in the tourism industry. He did not say how many police would be assigned to the unit or when it would launch.
The government has recently come under fire over increasing crime in the former British and French territory.
