Travel & news discussion about St. Lucia

bar owners need to ante up $600?

Postby KarenS » Tue Mar 13, 2007 7:47 am

Doing CWC research I came upon an article stating grievance in St. Lucia. Apparently, if you show any of the cricket matches on the TV at your bar you need to pay the ICC $600? Does anyone have any info on this?

Part of the article read:
Al Victor, bar owner, Castries: I don’t think it’s a good idea making people pay for having their TV on in their bar. We may get a big crowd there, but that still does not mean the bar will sell anything, so that $600 they are talking about, I don’t think it’s right because the bar isn’t making all that kind of money. When you have to pay $600 for how many days? I don’t even know how many. At the end of the day you have to pay your light bill, your water bill, your liquor license. And at the end of the day you lose more money than you make.
