As reported in Travel Weekly, St. Lucia has stepped up to the plate when it comes to great accommodations and planning of the upcoming Jazz Festival in May: "On the hotel front in 2005, St. Lucia welcomed the 83-room Coco Palm in July, the second property of the Coco Resorts’ family in Rodney Bay Village.

Other 2005 openings included the 254-room all-inclusive Coconut Bay Resort & Spa, a $15 million renovation of the former Club Med site on St. Lucia’s south coast and the 250-room Almond Morgan Bay Resort, the former St. James’ Club, which reopened in November north of Castries.

Coming on line this May will be the 74-unit SunSwept Resorts’ Plantation on Cotton Bay in April, the island’s first luxury villa resort, followed in May by the 124-room Sonesta-managed Discovery at Marigot Bay Spa Resort and Marina in Marigot Bay.

In June, Anse Chastanet will debut its complex of 24 “infinity suites” with a separate reception area, concierge services and the Jade Mountain restaurant. In addition, the 23-villa Calabash Cove Inn & Sanctuary near Rodney Bay is scheduled to open this fall.

Meanwhile, the island is touting its ever-popular St. Lucia Jazz Festival, which is set for May 5 to 14. For details on the festival, visit www.stluciajazz.org. For island information, visit www.stlucia.org."
