Barbados and Montserrat will play a series of Twenty20 cricket matches at the end of this month as both islands intensify preparations for next month's Stanford 20/20 tournament in Antigua.
Barbados coach Hendy Springer told Nationsports they will welcome the trip by the Leeward Islands side and the full format for the Stanford 20/20 will be used during the warm-up games.
"Montserrat have decided to come here for some matches to help with their preparations and that will be great preparation for us as well," said Springer, a former Barbados allrounder. "We will be trying to use the equipment which will be put in place during the Stanford 20/20 tournament. That will include the black bats and the balls, as we have to get as close to ready as we can be."
The Stanford 20/20 tournament will be played at the Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua from July 11 to August 13. Barbados' opening match will be against Anguilla on Tuesday, July 18, at 7 pm, while Montserrat open against Guyana on Friday, July 21, at 3 pm.
