Almost everyday people researching Antigua stumble upon an animated 10 day forecast for the country. Immideately they get scared becuase 100% of the time weather.com http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/b ... k_business and yahoo weather: http://uk.weather.yahoo.com/ACXX/ACXX0002/index_c.html say that for the next 10 days it will be cloudy, overcast rainy conditions. They are always wrong, but it is quite simple to explain why. Our weather center here in Antigua reports an extremely common condition here as "fair to partly cloudy....with a chance of scattered showers". To a forecaster up North it would be "Awesome weather", and in some of the other islands where they have figured it out, they call the same condition "mostly sunny with a chance of clouds". If you live here or are here on holiday, you will here them say this every day even when u know it will be beautiful. The international weather centers who can't be bothered to forecast the weather here themselves use the weatherfax info from our weather service in their animated forecasts. You see it as cloudy rainy cartoons all year long. We can't have rain here 365 days a year like weather.com and yahoo weather say.
We have no rivers, springs or streams here and i can assure you that we are one of the driest islands in the Caribbean. If you really want to know how much cloud cover we are having on a regular basis then check the animated satellite images sites like are listed on http://www.antiguaadventures.com/ant-weath.html.
You stand more chance of having a sunny dry holiday here than you do in most of the other islands with Aruba and Anguilla being exceptions. This place is usually too sunny!
Hope this info helps.
