With the influx of World Cricket Cup attendees happening at the same time as tourist high season, many of the island's are looking into expanding their abilities to house the many visitors. The following is from the Miami Herald:

To address the problems of steep high-season prices and lack of inventory, organizers are looking at a number of alternatives. They include:

• Asking residents to rent out rooms or consider expanding existing space. In Antigua, where many of the hotel rooms include meals and can run as high as $400 a night, organizers are encouraging residents to rent out their homes.

• Looking at cruise ships. Though many of the countries have not ruled out the ''floating hotels,'' one so far, Barbados, has contracted with a cruise-ship company to have the vessels docked in port.

Organizers in Grenada, a few hours away by boat, are hoping an Australian cruise ship will help provide relief by ferrying travelers between the two islands. Matches will take place in the two countries on alternate days.

• Creating camping grounds. In Guyana, where about 50 hotels are either being built, renovated or expanded -- including a luxury 250-room hotel within walking distance of the cricket stadium -- organizers are looking at ''building jamboree-style camps to house youths, where they will have huts, washrooms, running water,'' said Karan Singh, head of the Guyana organizing committee.
