The largest areas of construction we saw the week of March 12th-18th 2006 was the stretch between the
Villa Renaissance and Ocean Club and Ocean Club West.
Large cranes, cement pouring, and the overall
building creation step construction. The "Seven
Stars" resort being the biggest property.
West of The Sands is another large stretch of development including the expansive Mandalay.
It appears that development projects may not only
be confined to resorts. There appears to be
housing projects as well, but these being located
on the non-ocean fronting side of the streets.
East of the Ocean Club East resort is a partially
complete Tuscany hotel. And to the east of that
there is a new housing development with man made
canals being built called The Leeward.
Some kind of construction is everywhere!
Gas stations, expansion of existing shopping plazas
like the Salt Mill, or new mini-mart buildings.
Everywhere we saw concrete blocks with rebar rods
sticking out. So much so I thought it should be an
image to be added to the T&C license plates.
Except for the glow of security lighting, construction was not a nuisance at the Grace Bay
Club located with just the Ocean Club West between
our building and the Seven Stars construction cranes.
Renovations at the Grace Bay club were being made to
the central building housing the administration,
main lobby, gym, and spa on the bottom floors. An
occasional circular saw or hammer could be heard
from the hotel's outdoor eateries.
