Should I take the Charlotte Amalie or the Red Hook Ferry?

Should I take the Charlotte Amalie or the Red Hook Ferry?

Postby flip_flop » Thu May 04, 2006 9:03 am

The CA ferry is closer to the airport, but a longer ferry ride. The RH ferry requires a longer cab ride, but is a shorter ferry ride & is less expensive.

Which should I take?

Which Ferry CA or RH

#1 Check the time of your arrival and the ferry schedule - what gets you on island fastest

#2 Is the weather awful - rarely, but it happens - you might opt to spend less time on the water RH (Note: do not rely on the forecast to determine the weather - if you walk out of the airport and its torrential rain - then opt for the long cab/short ferry)

#3 Do you get seasick - pick RH

All things being equal I'd take the CA ferry over RH anyday. I can spend twenty minutes in a taxi anytime I want. Spending 45 minutes on the Caribbean - not near often enough.
