Martin replaces Tuffey

Postby KarenS » Mon Mar 26, 2007 7:02 am

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, March 25 (Reuters) - Fast bowler Chris Martin has replaced the injured Daryl Tuffey in New Zealand's World Cup squad, the International Cricket Council confirmed on Sunday.

The ICC's technical committee approved the switch after Tuffey was ruled out of the tournament with a right bicep injury sustained in the 114-run win over Canada in St Lucia on Thursday.

Martin, 32, has played only nine one-day internationals, the first of which was in 2001 against Zimbabwe.

New Zealand, who qualified as Group C winners with three wins out of three, play West Indies in Antigua in their first Super Eights match on Thursday.
