Five to swim perimeter of Barbados

Postby KarenS » Fri Jul 14, 2006 7:23 am

Five British teenagers are set to attempt a swim around Barbados this Saturday.

The boys, all from Eton College in England, have already completed the English Channel and swum around Manhattan, and they see Barbados as a new and unique challenge.

Alas, I don't think they made it due to bad weather. The last article I read stated:
British boys fail to swim around Barbados
Saturday, 15 July 2006
Yet another attempt to swim around Barbados has failed....

Earlier today, the five British teenagers had to call off their swim after bad weather conditions brought a premature end to their attempt.

The five, James Kearney, Henry Pitt, George Bullard, Benjamin Powell and Ian Osband encountered high waves and strong winds which made the swim dangerous.

The rough seas also made it difficult for the support boat to accompany the boys as it began to take on water.

The swimmers had made it to Foul Bay before the swim was aborted around nine this morning.

This article can be found here

I wonder if they'll attempt it in the future? If I read about it I'll post it!
