no tax on rental cars??

Postby kthynoll » Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:06 am

Hello, can you please tell me if there is no tax on renting a car.
I would think there would be but it looks like Frommers says no:

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/ba ... 10002.html

<<By Rental Car -- If you don't mind driving on the left, you may find a rental car ideal on Barbados. You'll need a temporary permit if you don't have an international driver's license. The rental agencies listed below can all issue this visitor's permit, or you can go to the police desk upon your arrival at the airport. You must have a license from home and pay a registration fee of BD$10 (US$5). The speed limit is 32kmph (20 mph) inside city limits, 72kmph (45 mph) elsewhere on the island. Due to frequent delays at airport counters, we suggest taking a taxi from the airport to your hotel, and then calling to have your rental car delivered. No taxes apply to car rentals on Barbados.>>

We always rent from Stoutes Cars and this is what they say on their site:

ALL RATES QUOTED IN US DOLLARS AND ARE SUBJECT TO 15% GOVERNMENT TAX

If you would like to check out their site it is:
www.stoutescar.com

Tell them Lois Swanson recommended and you will get a nice discount.
