Treasure Beach

The Observer has a new article "<a href="http://observer.guardian.co.uk/travel/story/0,,1928267,00.html">This winter's hot holidays at cool prices</a>" - with info on various islands. For Barbados they say this:

"Treasure Beach in Barbados reopens at the end of November after six months of refurbishment. A venerable hotel on the aptly named Platinum coast, it is now run by Hamish Watson, formerly of the Cobblers Cove, and one of Barbados's best general managers. The 35 suites are either on the beach or by the swimming pool. All the rooms have wi-fi and have been redecorated throughout.

Enjoy it while you can though; by the end of next year, the hotel will cost around £2,000pp for the average seven-night stay. Caribtours (020 7751 0660; www.caribtours.co.uk) has seven nights room only at Treasure Beach in a garden-view suite from £1,140pp until 8 December, including flights and transfers."
