Gospelfest in Barbados

Postby KarenS » Mon Feb 27, 2006 8:43 am

As reported in Newday: "An established favorite, Barbados is chock-full of festivals throughout the year, with Gospelfest the only one of its kind in the Caribbean. To say Barbadians are religious is an understatement. More than 100 sects operate there and it's against this backdrop that popular North American and Caribbean gospel singers are drawn to the island. Other notable festivals include the Crop-Over Festival, which runs for five weeks until Aug. 2 and marks the end of the sugarcane harvest. Also, Barbados' summer carnival celebration, known as the Congaline Festival, features "De Human Congaline," in which thousands of people gather to form the world's longest congaline. This street party is followed by musical performances by prominent artists. May 20-28,"

Anyone attending (or have attended)?

Hi, Karen.

I'll be vacationing in Barbados May 15 - 21, 2006. I will probably attend one night at the Gospelfest.
