"The National Gallery’s Walkers Art Club:

The National Gallery’s Walkers Art Club will meet every Friday at 3:30 pm to 5:00 p.m. at the National Gallery Education Centre #5 Baytown Plaza, except the last Friday of each month. Call 945-8111 for more information.

The Cayman Islands Football Association Fundraiser:

The Cayman Islands Football Association will be hosting its annual black tie fundraiser - The CIFA World Cup Extravaganza - at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on Saturday 27 May at 7:00 pm. Blue Iguana Safari, Tuesdays in May:

The National Trust invites interested persons to come and meet the Blues! This one and a half hour fully guided tour takes everyone behind the scenes at the captive breeding facility and out into the forest and gardens of the park in search of the park’s free roaming animals. Contact or call 949-0121 for more information or to make reservations.

Bodden Town Bats:

The National Trust invites interested persons to come and meet under a bat house to observe the bats as they make their first flight of the evening. Lois Blumenthal will provide the interpretive talk during the fly-out at sunset. A unique experience suited for all ages. CI$5 for Trust members, $10 for non-members. British Comedy presentation:

The Cayman Drama Society will be presenting “Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell”, a British comedy written by Keith Waterhouse and directed by Penny Phillips, beginning 18 May for three weekends. The play will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, starting at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Art Trek:

The National Gallery will be having Art Trek on Tuesday 2 May from 3:30-5:00 pm at their Education Centre, Bay Town Plaza, WB Road. Free for Kindergarten to Middle School-aged children. NCVO’s Bargain Shop Sale & Miss Nadine’s Car Wash:

The NCVO will be having a $5 Bag Sale on Saturday 6 May from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Also on Saturday 6 May Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and Jack & Jill Nursery will host a Car Wash to raise money for supplies for the school. Refreshments will also be on sale. Both the Bargain Shop Bag Sale and Car Wash will take place at #90 Anthony Drive next to Miss Nadine’s Pre-School.

Orchid of Cayman Fund Raiser:

The Independent United Order of Mechanics Friendly Society will be hosting a fund raiser for charity on Saturday 6 May 6:30 pm at Lodge Hall, Newlands and are inviting everyone to attend. Cost is $5.00 and Talent entry fee - $10.00. Fish, Fritters and Drinks will be on sale. Call Keshia at 925-6010 or Bernice at 916-5700 for more information.

Photography Club:

On Sunday 7 May the Photography Club will be going on a field trip to Bodden Town and East End to photography dilapidated houses. The next meeting of the Photography Club will take place on Wednesday 10 May at the Camera Store from 7:30 pm. Email Cora at for more information.

The Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa features Artist:

The Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa will be featuring artist Mélanie-Rose’s work. All are invited to the opening of STONES OF MEMORIES: a Mythical History of Jewelry on Canvas, on Wednesday 10 May at 6:30 pm. Melanie-Rose’s work will be on display until 11 June. UCCI Library:

The UCCI Library is open Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 7:30 pm and Fridays 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and are closed on weekends. Persons of the community who are interested can become members of the library. There is an application fee of $25 for non-students. For persons who wish to borrow books there is a refundable deposit of $100. Persons are welcome to come and just sit down and read if they prefer to.

Schedule is as follows: Saturday 6 May – Junior Carnival & Song Competition at the Glass House; Thursday 11 May – Masquerade Fete at Pedro St James; Friday 12 May – Friday Night Fete at Safehaven; and Saturday 13 May – Adult Street Parade from West Bay Road to George Town."
