Deal Ebanks is one of the traditional craftspeople represented by Cayman Traditional Arts, a local company dedicated to preserving traditional arts and crafts here for future generations.

"People ask me, 'why don't you use a lathe to speed the work up,' but I'm not here to mass produce these items, I'm here to show our children what went into our everyday life," Deal Ebanks said, as he sat down outside his grandfather's wattle and daub house in West Bay, where he makes traditional Cayman toys from wood.
