Sea turtles begin nesting

Long a symbol of Cayman, the sea turtles of the Caribbean will soon start their nesting season, with too few of these incredible creatures expected to lay eggs on beaches here in the Islands.

While it is encouraging that turtles still come to nest on Cayman beaches, the numbers recorded in recent years have been critically low.

To protect the few remaining turtles and give their offspring a greater chance of survival, the Department of the Environment (DOE) has issued suggestions for ways in which the public can help.
