Maria la Gorda or where to go next...

Postby sapo » Sun Apr 16, 2006 3:22 pm

for two weeks of good diving and R&R. White sand is a must, nude beach will be a nice addition.
After 11 trips to Cuba in last 15 years I am running out of options. I know, always we can go back to one or two places we really loved, but new place is always more appealing. Hola Sun used to have Isla de la Juventud and Maria la Gorda via Havana in their offer few years ago, don't know if they are in business anymore (web site under construction for some time). Does anyone have any info how to get there, any packages from Canada? Places we wont visit again are: Varadero, playa Giron (superb diving in Bay of Pigs, but mosquitoes are in size of elephant), Santiago de Cuba both east and west of town (dark sand), Jibacoa, Guardalavaca, Playa Ancon and Playa Santa Lucia.
We loved Cayo Largo (next time we would choose Sol Cayo Largo instead Pelicano), Cayo Santa Maria (no diving facility but everything else was excellent) and Cayo Guillermo was better than average.
Any other thought? Thanks!

You can still go to Maria La Gorda originating from Havana. It is still an available product.

There are private trasfers. Price depends on how many people will go there. Cheaper if over 4 persons.

There is also Cayo Ensenachos ( new cuban product). It is located north of Villa Clara Province. There is a plane that flyes you to the new cay and there is also ground transfer. There is only one hotel there for now.. it is an exclusive hotels (not cheap).. its an All inclusive called : " Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos"
