When: June 5 to 10, 2006
Where: Marina Hemingway in Havana, Cuba
Entry Fee: 450 CUC per team
Organized by: Jose Miguel Diaz Escrich

This fishing tournament was started in 1950 by Ernest Hemingway who lived in Cuba for several decades. They go mainly after marlin and dorados. This year they are hoping to attract upward of 80 international fishers. Trophies are awarded for biggest fish, most fish and teams who catch and release.

Sounds like a real adrenaline rush for the very avid fisher! Happy angling and remember that a bad day fishing is still much better than a good day at work!

Hi Deb,

The information for the fishing tournament was posted for Cuba interest purposes only, and in no way reflects my personal thoughts on the pros and/or cons of sport fishing activities.

I found the information about this event in a business magazine (affliated with the Financial Post) inserted in my Vancouver Sun newspaper.

If you go to www.google.com and do a search for Hemingway Fishing Tournament, Havana, you will get about 900+ hits which give further information.
