The "closest" nicest hotel to Havana that has a wonderful beach is the Breezes Jiacoba. It apporx 80 km from Havana.

hotels near havana

hi..myself and 2 girlfriends stayed at Hotel Tropicoco a few years ago on Santa Maria del Mar beach about a 20 minute cab ride outside of Havana. The hotel itself is nothing special (2 star) basically a clean place to sleep and shower but the beach is huge and amazingly beautiful and its public so you meet alot of Cubans. We spent our days laying on the beach, swimming and going for long walks and at night Havana is about a 10 dollar cab ride into the fantastic clubs and dancing. There were a couple of other small hotels in this area as well but again, nothing fancy, the nicest one seemed to be Hotel Atlantico, (3 star). Hope this helps...
