Postby KarenS » Tue Feb 07, 2006 9:17 am

According to Caribbean Net News: "CASTRIES, St Lucia: Saint Lucia says it will support Haiti’s request for re-entry into CARICOM, if the country’s upcoming elections are held in a 'free and fair manner.'

Saint Lucia’s External Affairs Minister Petrus Compton made the statement ahead of Haiti’s General Elections, scheduled for February 7. The statement comes days after Haitian Prime Minister Gerard Latortue called for his country’s reinstatement into the regional grouping.

'…we are prepared to work with a Haitian government that is elected constitutionally and properly in free and fair elections,' Compton said."
